Education Otherwise Than at School (EOTAS)

A request for an EOTAS package can be made through

• An EHCP review
• An EHC assessment

If there is clear evidence that a child or young person’s needs can’t be met in any educational setting, an EOTAS package may be considered.

There must be clear reasons as to why the current setting or any educational setting cannot meet the child or young person’s need. This includes why they can't put the provision in place in EHCP and that every avenue of support has been explored.

The child or young person’s views must be gathered as part of this process. There must be evidence that this has been done as part of the request. This ensures that every child and young person has their say in how they're educated.

For children and young people who have difficulties communicating then videos, drawings or any other creative ways of getting their voice can be used.
