Education Otherwise Than at School (EOTAS)

How will an EOTAS package be considered

The request for EOTAS and the provision costings are considered on an individual basis. Children and young people must continue to receive a broad, balanced and appropriate educational offer that delivers the provision within section F of the EHC Plan.

The proposal will be considered by the EHC Panel which includes professionals from education, health, social care and Family Voice Calderdale. They will consider

  • if there’s an appropriate educational setting that can meet needs. This will mean that the SEN Team consult with other local settings.
  • whether some of the provision can be delivered within a setting
  • the views of the parent carers
  • the views of the child or young person
  • the views of the professionals working with the child or young person e.g. teachers, tutors, health professionals

The panel will aim to make a decision within either the EHC Needs Assessment timeline or the EHC Review timeline. Whilst this is not always possible, they will aim to stick as close to the timeline as possible.

When a decision is made by the panel, they will let the SEN Officer know in the SEN Team. They will let the family know the decision and next steps.
